This coming fall, Kathleen Heitz will be a senior at Georgian Court University, which is located at the beautiful New Jersey shore. Georgian Court University is run by the Sisters of Mercy, and is centered on the Mercy core values: service, respect, integrity, justice, and compassion. Kathleen currently has a 3.9 cumulative G.P.A. and is a member of several honor societies, including: Phi Eta Sigma, Kappa Delta Pi, Sigma Tau Delta, as well as a charter member of Omicron Delta Kappa. She is majoring in English and pursuing certification to be a middle school and high school English teacher. She is looking forward to being a student teacher this spring. Kathleen believes that too many young people dislike English and literature, which is why she is passionately pursuing her degree.
While not reading, writing, or studying, Kathleen enjoys playing the drums in multiple Christian rock bands in her local area. She began playing the drums at eleven years of age and has never stopped. Playing the drums is a large part of her life and she has been fortunate to have played at many large Christian venues around the state of New Jersey with different groups. Kathleen's parents are avid supporters of her drum playing and everything else that she does.
Kathleen will graduate this May with plans to be a high school English teacher. She also aspires to go to graduate school to pursue a master's degree in either English or education. Ms. Heitz hopes to be a school administrator one day.
